CANDIDATE MEMBERSHIP


To become a Candidate member of the Appraisal Institute of Canada (which will also mean membership in the Nova Scotia Real Estate Appraisers Association), you must be at least 18 years of age and provide documentation as follows:

  • a high school diploma qualifying you for university entrance; or

  •  
  • a college diploma/certificate for a program that lasted two or more years; or

  •  
  • an official transcript of marks evidencing successful completion of a university transfer credit course; or

  •  
  • a General Education Diploma (GED); or

  •  
  • Mature Student Status as may be conveyed by the appropriate learning institution.

Effective January 1, 1998, individuals first admitted and former CRAs and Candidates requesting reinstatment to the Institute must hold a degree from an accredited university in order to attain use of the AACI designation.


As of April 1, 2000, there are two additional pre-requisites for Candidate Membership in AIC. They are:

  • successful completion of AIC Course 1101, or the equivalent;

  •  
  • successful completion of the Appraisal Standards Seminar.
An application form must be submitted to the Nova Scotia Real Estate Appraisers Association with the appropriate fees, evidence of the required education, and character references. This form will be mailed out to prospective candidates by the NSREAA.
